A migrant learning center in Mae Sot, Thailand was in urgent need for additional classrooms. With a small budget of 2600$, the classrooms had to be ready to use within four weeks time.
Building with margenalized communities on the Thai-Burma border
The main cost of the building is the structure made from steal profiles, which represents 70% of the total construction cost of the building, and can be re-sold or re-used in the future. Bamboo, eucalypthus and thatch are used for the roofs. Although these materials are not intended to last over two years without any pre-treatment, they are easily available every season and the cost is affordable and stable for the local community.
