The Asociación de Vecinos del barrio de Kennedy: a team composed mainly of residents, saw the opportunity to restore an abandoned gathering place where they demonstrated their stories through murals, graffiti, and other urban expressions. At the very first stage, the idea of the reconstruction came from shared interests and due to the proximity to the community gathering place nearby.
Their objective was to repair and furnish the remaining reinforced concrete columns and brick wall structures in a Do-It-Yourself fashion, without formal plans and proposals.
It was only when the community association met the collective of
Arquitectura Expandida that the plan started to evolve. A new name was given to the place, reconciling the past with the present and giving the site a brand new identity.
For locals, the name Tr3bol means clever. The number 3 indicates a new spatial organization made of 3 spaces: skate park, event hall, and community garden. The Tre3bol represents the union between neighborhood recovery and its memory maintenance, resulting in an exchange dynamic of territorial pedagogies.
