Marked by institutional neglect and lack of economic opportunities, the village of Palomos wants to stand out. With its rich patrimonial heritage, added to the Ecomall Portal Ragnarok, a modular bamboo infrastructure that integrates productive and cultural spaces designed with the community. It not only responds to the need for economic alternatives and exchange spaces. It also becomes a community symbol of cohesion and territorial autonomy.

Introduction
In Palomos, an ecovillage in southwestern Antioquia, a forgotten memory resounds among the coffee mountains and the vestiges of the old Antioquia Railroad. Despite institutional neglect, the loss of economic opportunities and the disconnection with its history, its inhabitants have preserved something essential: the knowledge, the territory and the collective desire to transform their reality. “Territorial Links” was born as an architectural and community response to the urgent need to rebuild links with the land, memory and between people. It is a social innovation project with three phases: 1) Citizen training laboratory, 2) Creation and participatory self-construction workshops, where the “Portal Ragnarok, Eco-mall” will be built, and 3) Cultural activation through a local fair that makes community processes and economies visible. It arises from the dialogue with the Ragnarok and Trópicos collectives, which identified the natural and cultural richness of the territory, as well as its social fractures. The project articulates social architecture, cultural tourism and popular economy as tools to regenerate the social fabric. At a key moment of regional development, it seeks to ensure that the transformation of the territory is not imposed, but built from within, with the community as the protagonist.

Impact
The project promotes community development in Palomos, Fredonia, responding to historical needs of territorial revitalization, income generation and identity strengthening. Through a participatory architecture, the “Portal Ragnarok, Eco-mall” proposes cultural and productive spaces that articulate traditional knowledge, regenerative tourism and popular economy. The community is the protagonist of a sustainable and culturally relevant transformation. Qualitatively, the project seeks to strengthen the social fabric through community networks, a sense of belonging and the recovery of heritage as a collective asset. The participation of young people, women and artists in planning and self-construction will foster empowerment, memory and new forms of coexistence. The eco-mall will be a node of cultural, educational and economic exchange. Quantitatively, more than 150 people will benefit from training, employment in tourism and bioconstruction. At least 10 productive modules will be set up and 20 new economic initiatives will be promoted. The key indicators will be people trained, income generated, and increased community participation. The model will be sustainable due to its local ownership, regional replicability, and strengthening of long-term partnerships.

Core team

The “Enlaceteam was born from a convergence of knowledge and passion for transforming the territory from its community roots. United by the conviction that social architecture is a tool for peace and sustainable development, its members come from disciplines such as architecture, psychology, economics, art and community leadership. This diversity is their greatest strength: a synergy that combines social sensitivity and technical capacity, giving shape to an integral initiative with deep roots in Palomos:

Juan Pablo Pareja leads the coordination from the perspective of social architecture, providing territorial vision and participatory design.

Santiago Esteban Marín, psychologist, guides the psychosocial and human fabric component.

Kelly Yohana Rodríguez, architect of Trópicos Laboratorio, promotes approaches of equity, memory and sensitive design.

Juan Camilo Agudelo, beekeeper and artist, fuses art, ecology and popular education.

Milton Cardona, community leader, strengthens the project through physical well-being.

Yamid Yepes, journalist, contributes to the audiovisual strategy.

Alejandro Présiga, economist, ensures sustainability through community production models.

This team has worked shoulder to shoulder with the community, which has shown strong support: attendance at meetings, contributions in kind and labor. This alliance between technical and local knowledge consolidates the Raggnarok Portal as a process of co-creation with a human, integral and transformative perspective.

Participative workshop on modular models
A mock-up workshop was held where participants designed proposals for the future Ecomall El Portal Ragnarok. The emerging ideas were oriented towards the adaptive design of the project. These proposals demonstrated a high level of ownership and creativity on the part of the community, generating direct inputs for the architectural design process. The exercise strengthened citizen participation, fostered collective thinking and made visible new needs and opportunities for the community, with tangible and innovative strategies.

Integration and social cohesion activities
During the day we also held a community chocolate party that encouraged intergenerational dialogue among children, young people and adults, strengthening social ties. We complemented this space with recreational activities such as bodybuilding, aimed at highlighting the care of the body as an integral part of the community's social development.

Ecological hike and reconnaissance of the territory:
In the morning hours of June 7, a guided walk was conducted through the ecohostel El Portal Ragnarok, a space that has been protected for more than 15 years. This activity allowed the participants to reconnect with their natural environment and to value the role that this territory plays in the social and ecological processes of the community. In addition, a talk was given on reforestation and soil recovery, making the ecohostel visible as a future green lung of southwestern Antioquia and a potential botanical garden.

Where are we now
Currently, the project is advancing in the consolidation of a replicable model of community development based on social architecture, regenerative economy and cultural valorization. Its axis is the Ecomall - Portal Ragnarok, in Palomos (Fredonia), a multifunctional space for training, commerce and meetings. We have already achieved participatory design, bioconstruction workshops with local alliances and support from Rotary International to initiate training. We are looking for international allies to add experience, financing or networks to scale this model of sustainable and participatory rural planning.
An indication of our team’s capacity:
5% funding already raised
85% expertise already found
30% materials / equipment already found
40% builders already found
Finance: € 11,100
The additional financing will enable the construction of a modular guadua infrastructure for the eco-mall and farmers' market in Palomos, integrating local economy, culture, and sustainability. An ecological route, a botanical garden, and a community nursery will be added to promote ecotourism and environmental education. Productive units in beekeeping, natural cosmetics, and agribusiness will be strengthened, as well as purposeful tourism experiences. This investment will consolidate a sustainable model and make Palomos a regional benchmark for social innovation.

Skills: Technique, Financial advice, PR & Marketing
We seek advice on bio-construction with guadua, sustainable tourism and community entrepreneurship. These skills are key to consolidate the eco-mall as an ecological and functional infrastructure. We require experience in construction with local materials, energy efficiency and self-management. We also need support in the design of regenerative tourist routes and training in business models. This collaboration will allow us to promote economic autonomy, local leadership and cultural roots.
Stuff: Materials, Equipment & tools
To implement the project, we require in-kind donations: bamboo and bamboo for ecological structures; cement for foundations; polycarbonate alveolar tiles for roofs with natural light; and recycled biopolymer pots for gardens and ecological routes. These materials will strengthen the local circular economy, promote employment, and enable self-construction and community training processes in Palomos.
