introduction EditThe initial goal of the program "estonoesunsolar" was the development of an employment plan, which should involve 50 workers, long term unemployed, for cleaning the empty plots around the Historical Area of Zaragoza, Spain. On this basis, it raised the possibility of a series of proposals which comply strictly beyond the objectives, allowing temporary occupation of these locations and offering a range of temporary uses,in order to make these spaces were 100 % usable.
cultural and social context EditThese temporary plots have been valued as dynamic spaces by the designers, this analysis allowed them alternative and flexible ways of reading the city and the public spaces. Every location contains a different ideas and wish of the residents. All the proposals have emerged from processes of citizen participation The program began in 2009 in 14 plots in the Old Town and then in 2010 was extended to the all city, recycling other 14 urban voids in public space.
The result was possible thanks to the institutional support of the Municipal Board of the Old Town and managed by the Housing Society of Zaragoza’s Municipality. (Sociedad Municipal Zaragoza Vivienda).
